Two Types of Taxi Fares in Geelong
Understanding the difference helps you know what to expect before you travel.
Unbooked (On-Demand) Fares
If you hail a taxi on the street or join a taxi rank without a prior booking, the fare runs on a meter at rates set by the Victorian Government (CPVV). These are the maximum rates a licensed taxi can charge.

Pre-Booked Fares (Our Rates)
When you book with Geelong Taxi Service in advance, your fare is estimated upfront based on CPVV meter rates plus a small booking fee. All fares below are estimates — actual cost depends on distance, time and traffic on the day.

Unbooked Taxi Fares — Geelong (CPVV Rates)
These are the maximum rates set by Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria (CPVV) for all unbooked taxi services in Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo. Effective September 2025.

Extras & Surcharges

| Late Night Fee | $4.30 | 7pm Friday & Saturday nights through to 6am the following morning. Midnight to 6am on all other nights. |
| Holiday Rate | $5.25 | 7pm the evening before a public holiday through to 6am the following morning. Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day, and from 6pm on New Year's Eve. Note: late night fee does not apply during holiday rate periods. |
| CityLink & EastLink Tolls | Pass-through | Tolls charged at actual cost as published in the Victorian Government Gazette. Applies on Melbourne Airport runs using the freeway. |
| Airport Taxi Rank Fee | Pass-through | Applies for pickups from the official airport taxi rank. Passed through at cost as published by the airport. |
| CPV Levy Recovery Fee | Pass-through | Small CPVV levy recovery fee in accordance with Victorian Government regulations. |
| Cleaning Fee | Up to $120 | May apply if a passenger soils or damages the vehicle. |
